Art & Waiting

Yes, it’s a thing.

I think the experience of the chaos of war– something I can only timidly imagine– gives one a poetic understanding of waiting. Not really of boredom, as that is another subject. But this photo gives a view of the peace and joy for something just beyond the horizon, the wonder of going home, of reflection, and the peace of having something to do and the calm to do it peaceably.

Humans have the capacity to be bored wherever they are.  Boredom is only possible where the bored person is insensible to the present. While activity can stave away boredom, boredom is a state of mind, and beating it is one trick of waiting well.
