More War Cartoons– A History Lesson

This is the strangest war cartoon I’ve seen. The artist is complaining that people aren’t killing people.  Keep in mind that this is about the Civil War.

I have to wonder if this is the origin for the term “Cold War.”  It’s almost a shame the artist didn’t include snowmen.

Fighting anywhere during winter time is slow, costly with high death rates.  It wasn’t luxury for the soldiers on the field, and I’m sure that people were still dying. More from cold and sickness if nothing else.

Well, I suppose if you are paying for a war, a war is what you want to get.

What is also interesting, is that you rarely saw anti-war cartoons during the Civil War or before. But it started during WW I, and they are most of what we’ve seen since.
